Eat, Sleep, Work: A Documentation of Process
My work as an artist is involved in each moment of my life; it is transported wherever I go, evolving as a living entity released through the art of process, which is the overall concept of this performance piece. When I am struck with inspiration, my work is never truly idle, I am connected to it wherever I go whether I am eating, sleeping, or physically working on it. I have based this performance/sculpture on the 1957 term coined by Allan Kaprow, “happening”. Each happening is a unique, individual experience emphasizing the connections between the art and the environment that evokes it. It cannot be reproduced, bought, or taken home. There is no ultimate direction and it is based on chance. I like to think of this piece as a “happening” devoted to the observation of process versus product and the realization of the process as being art in itself.
